Mission
Survivors of war in the North, East and North-West with special emphasis on marginalised groups, are mobilized to deal with their psychosocial and physical distress through community based holistic care, rehabilitation, economic empowerment and peace building.
Strategies
To provide training to persons within communities to act independently in emergency situations. To provide services needed in conflict and disaster areas, utilizing personnel from within affected communities.
To gather representatives from all ethnic communities at training and awareness building programmes, to promote understanding and ethnic harmony.
Target Groups
Target Groups: Initially in 1996 the needs of female heads of households were identified as the prime need and, in the year 2001 it was decided to enlarge the target groups to include marginalized persons of all ethnic and religious cultures in war affected areas of the North and East. The target group now includes Female heads of house holds the handicapped, children, unemployed youth and elders.
Families of the deceased, disappeared, and tortured, consequent to the conflict in Sri Lanka, with a special emphasis on female headed households, the handicapped, elderly, and unemployed youth., families bereaved, dispossessed and displaced by natural disasters.
